I really kinda liked the Studio Projects Vtb-1 pre, but it is only one channel... I realize this is a tall order, but is there a tube pre out there with four channels thats worth mentioning? I realize this is a tall order, so I guess I could drop it down to 2 channels if its necessary...

I have been thinking about buying a new mic lately as i haven't exactly gotten great tones from my current ones, a sm57 and an at3035. sometimes they are okay, but i keep hearing great things about the r-121. my question is, would this mic make a major difference in my sound even though i am using an mbox(which i love, but it may not necessarily have the best preamps).

I'm going to the studio to record my sax. To cut down on studio time, can you give me some suggestions on which setting to use for the Avalon 737 Preamp? The engineer doesn't know. I'm looking for a warm sound..

I'm using a AKG 414 mic

I'd prefer not to guess at a setting in the book.

I've just baught a MSR-24 from Tascam. I connect through a patchbay in the inserts of my mixing desk. The problem is that the MSR is only -10 dB...

Do you guys know any rack gear that would convert those 24 -10 dB to +4 dB ?
