Well, I'm looking at getting some preamps!

The only requirement is that it has to have ADAT, I'm looking at the

-Focusrite OctoPre LE
-PreSonus DigiMAX FS
-M-Audio Octane

They all look so good!

i am setting up a DAW right now, and i need to get my hands on a nice mic preamp.
I have been looking at Focusrite TWIN-TRAK-PRO. also i have looked into both the Joemeek twinQ Dual Channel and the Joemeek OneQ.

any advice on any of these would be great. or if there is something killer sounding in this price range that i am unaware of, feel free to inform.

I have a Tascam2488 and I'm kinda new about preamps what are they used for and what ones could i buy if i record a band :D

I currently use an Optopre. Its great. I like th compressor But wish I had a phase on each channel. Im thinking of trading it in for a Mackie. What experience does any one have.
Used for drums mostly. Running along with M-Audio project mix into Pro Tools.

I recently purchased a digi 002, and am working towards creating a small demo quality home studio. What mic preamps and compressors are out there that yield the most bang for the buck?

I'm going to have a lot of free time over the summer (no school!) and I'm planning on trying to make my own 2 channel high quality mic preamp. Any ideas on a starting point / resources?

If I purchased a Digidesign 002 or 003 unit (with or without control board), what would be the best way for me to have a 12 mic preamp setup for simultaneous recording. since the 002 and 003 units only have 4 mic preamps. I don't want to have to buy 3 003 units to do this. If that solution would even work.

I've been recording choirs for about a year now using a matched pair of Oktava mics (MK012) with some great results. The only problem is the signal is usually very quiet.

Apologies. I remember reading a query about this months ago but I couldn't find it through searches:

I'm very much a rookie when it comes to home recording, but would the use of a preamp and/or DI box in between the instrument and device its being recorded directly into increase the overall results of the recording? or would it only make a real difference if it was recording via a mic then into the DI/preamp then recording gear?
