ART Mic Preamps
Forums
Hey i looking at getting a mic preamp as my next purchase. I'm fairly new to recording so i don't know much. i was just wondering if anyone has used any of those art pres like the MPA GOld or the pro channel or if anyone has any suggestions for a pre under 500. I was also looking at the brick which seems to get really good reviews. i have PreSonus firepod with Cubase 4.

Preamps & gain
Forums
I use a Zoom MRS802 multitrack which I simply plug my Mic (RODE NT1a) and guitars straight into. The zoom has phantom power for the mic and a dedicated High Z imput for guitars.
What I would like to do is use an external mixer so that I don't have to keep plugging and unplugging mics and guitars from the zoom unit - it will also give me far better monitoring possibilites.

The Brick vs Focusrite Platinum preamps (Octopre, etc)
Forums
Anyone have experience with both Focusrite's Platinum range preamps (Octopre, Voicemaster) and The Brick? How do they stack up? Has anyone compared The Brick to a VTB-1? (I assume at $100 the VTB-1 lands in that budget category of "sounds okay, but nothing special"). Any insight would be appreciated.

Good tube mic preamps... 1st post!
Forums
I don' t mean any cheap starved plate jobs.
What do you expect from a GOOD tube mic preamp?
What do you want to hear from it when you audition it?
What features are must haves?
Thanks
