Just purchased a Roswell Mini K47to record National Resonator( steel body). I am using a Focusrite Pro 40 or Focusrite Scarlett 2i2.
I have a PreSonus Eureka preamp but, looking for suggestions on an alternative preamp that would work well with this mic. Price range $300-$400.

HI all, I have a Scarlett 18i8 that I bought so that I could mic my drums which it does fine but I noticed that when I went to mic my vocals I clip with the louder decibels. I haven't really experimented with compression and/or limiters) I ventured and bought a better mic to solve the problem. Not the best but a nice AKG C314 . But I'm still clipping when my vocals start to rise in volume.

Since my recent acquisition of some very good Preamps and a definitive and noticeable step up in conversion quality, I've run into the "downside" of using these...
It really brings to the forefront the weak links in the recording chain - in my case, it's been painfully obvious to me that the overall tone of my acoustic guitar sucks.

My bass player just fried two channels on my board. He used a preamp compression pedal, into a passive DI box into an XLR channel. My formerly beautiful board smoked. It was clipping. We changed channels, DI box, cables and the second channel started to smell too. I disconnected the bass player and ran him thru my Roland keyboard amp. Please help me understand what happened!

When you bought your Focusrite ISA One pre, did you also buy the optional digital I/O card for it?
If so, are you happy with its conversion quality?
If not, what converter are you currently using to get the signal from the Focusrite into your DAW?
