I'm looking to purchase my first DAW software and want to know of any recommendations for the Mac OS . I'm thinking of going with Reaper to start but am also thinking of years down the road. It seems like a farily substantial program that will help with recordings and edits for years. Can I expect Reaper to do what I want it to do for awhile?

I would love to have some recommendations for a Mixer that is within the $100-200 range. If there is a significantly better Mixer near $300, that's okay too.

The amount of inputs/outputs are not my first priority. My first priority is Effects!

On near-field placement?

I have a pair of Alesis Monitor Ones (passive) and even though the brand name appears upright while on their sides, Alesis actually recommends that for optimum results, the speaker cabinets should be placed upright - with the tweet on top, centered directly over the woof.

I need a new set of monitors. I've been using multimedia computer speakers and they are old and shorting out.

Here's the unusual part: My new monitors must not only be accurate, they must also be capable of going very loud. And a subwoofer must be in there somewhere.
