Best Stand-alone Digital Recorder?
Forums
Hello,
Thanks to all for your input on building the studio.
I'm going to go the computer route. However, I've got a bunch of stuff that I'd like to record asap in highest quality form that I can burn to CD, while I complete the longer term goal of building and learning the computer system.

Stand Alone HD Recorder Comparison?
Forums
I am looking for some user comments and comparisons of the Alesis HD24, Tascam 2424, Mackie Hd24, Radar's contribuion to the same field.
So far I had been thinking about the Alesis model. Now I hear that the Mackie has just dropped price dramatically.
Which one of the above (or others) should I get as a most bang for the buck?

Phase/Time aligning drum tracks. Recorderman?
Forums
Theres an interesting topic going on at the music player forum about this, especially this guy Jay stating that phase reversing all drum mics except the kick mic is a good thing..
Whats your opinion on the subject?...
Welcome RecorderMan as a new mod for this forum.

RecorderMan is going to mod this forum now instead of the Producers forum. He is definitely suited for this area so at his request, he can call this home now! He will be replacing Dave McNair. Dave has been gone from RO for over (I think) 3 months, (can't get a hold of him :( ) and because I haven't heard from him I'm assuming he's stepping down. Thanks Dave ! and hope all is well.
Welcome Bill Roberts and RecorderMan!

Choosing 24 track hard disc recorders?
Forums
Greetings,
I am now in the market for a 24 track hard disc recorder. Out of the 3 famous choices, Tascam,Mackie and Alesis, which one is the better of the lot?
I know the Tascam is considerably more expensive.
Also, which of the Mackies (I am not useing a computer), the SDR or MDR? What is the difference between the two?
Thank you! :)

Word Clock and recorder?
Forums
I've been getting mixed information. I use a Mackie MDR 24 HD recording unit with an analog board. I have no outboard converters. Has anyone tried a external word clock with a single unit? Will it improve the sound of my built in converters or is it a waste of time?

I am looking for the best 24 HD recorder that is offered. The only ones I know are Mackie, Alesis and Tascam.
How are these units in comparison and are there better machines out there?
