Recording drums for deathcore/metal band next saturday...any words of wisdom?
Forums
Im an audio/video student in northern illinois, my band is tracking drums for our demo and I just wanted to see what kind of advice everyone could throw at me. I plan to close mic toms/snare/kick (2 mics on kick, a bd mic near the outer rI'm and an sm57 near the beaters to get the "click" that us metalheads love) and then doing x-y Micing for the overheads.

Help with Jazz Big Band Recording
Forums
Hi all,
I know there have been a couple of big band threads in the past and I have scoured them for details. I was hoping some of you might be able to jump in and help me out with a big band jazz recording I've got coming up. I've mostly recorded small groups, solo singer/songwriters, with the occasional rock band and church choir thrown in.
First, the setup of the band:

The band is made up of
Guitar, Bass, Drums, Piano, Percussion, 2 Flutes, Trumpets, Trombones and Saxes (about 8 in each of the brass sections.
There will be 2 soloists
We're recording in a fairly dead theatre with an audience (although it's all about the recording)

Recording a band in a tight space: need advice!
Forums
Hi all,
I am just starting out recording bands. In a few weeks I have a recording session with an indie-rock band coming up. I will be recording them in a well-equipped, but very small studio. There are no iso booths or chambers to put the guitar and bass amps. This poses a few problems I'd like your advice on.
First Time Recording a Band

Up until now, I've only been recording myself, one instrument at a time. A band I was in many years ago knows I have recording gear and asked if I'd record a demo for them. I told them of my inexperience in recording more than one thing at once, and to be ready for possible failure, and the said not to worry.

Recording 4 member band opinions...separate or together?
Forums
Hey geniuses. I'm in a high school sophomore in a band (bass, drums, guitar/vocals) and we are planning to start recording soon. We play pop punk and modern rock mostly i would say. We don't have enough money for studio time yet, but we want to make a quality demo making due with our own equipment. I would be using garageband or Cubase to record us using the Lexicon Lambda interface.

Hi all,
Did a search and there's been nothing recent on the topic so...
I got the call to record the school's big band tomorrow. It's quite good, wins lots of awards and they're doing some great Gordon Goodwin charts.
Anyway - I've got 16 digital inputs. 8 channels of quality pre (4 Seb, 4 Sytek)

Need Help Recording A Marching band...

I have been put in charge of recording my college's marching band, and I am not quite sure how to do it. I was thinking a basic X/Y in the center of the field and then omni's spaced out on the sides. (oh,this would be at football games, so I dont have time for a tedious set up.)
