Rock vocal mic recommendation
Forums
I want to step up to a mic for about $1000-$2000. No more entry level large condenser mics. I want a keeper. I dont need all the patterns in my project studio, just for vocals. First thoughts are a Neumann TLM 193 or equivalent. I keep getting told just to buy a U87, but I cant seem to justify the expense if I dont have a use all of the mics patterns. Led Zeppelin/Zebra style vocals.

'Classical' mics in rock music.
Forums
Hi everyone
I'm just wondering if people here use the 'standard' classical mics for rock music.
The mics I mean are by Schoeps, DPA/B&K, Sennheiser MKH series.
Just wondering...

Rock Revival Drum Kit mic technique
Forums
I recently read about this technique and gave it a try on the last album i did. It turned out FANTASTIC. Basicly it is a way to pepper in a lo-fi vibe to a otherwise crisp hi-fi drumkit... its a common trend with the rock revial bands like: the strokes, killers, franz f., etc.

Product Placement in Rock Videos
Forums
Has anyone noticed that the same mics appear in a lot of rock videos. This is quite interesting, as I've seen several videos on MTV that feature those 'spontaneous' recording sessions with U87s for example on tracks that I just happen to know were recorded with different mics. Of course you see a lot of SM58s as well, but I can understand that if people want to get a sort of 'live' look.

hi,
I'm making some absorption panels ( 2' x 4' ) for home recording that i can move so not against a wall). I will you them mostly for vocal booth and for general absorption in my 'live room'. I want to use 2" rockwool panels ( good absorption AND cheap !)
absorption coefficient for a 2" rockwool panel are:
125hz 250hz 500hz 1000hz 2000hz 4000hz
