Pro Tools 8 Sample Rate 48khz playing slow

I've been recording in the studio at 48khz/24 on a mac running Pro Tools 9. I want to do some additional tracks at home on my Sony Viao Windows 7 running Pro Tools 8. I've tried opening the session and it gives me messages about plugins not available, that's ok, but then it is playing slow. So, I tried making a new session at 48khz and importing the files but it's still slow. any ideas?

LOGIC - WAVE L3 ultramaximizer and sample rate conversion and correct audio workflow

Hi, i have recorded a 24 tracks concert with an Alesis HD24 at 48 khz and 24 bit, i imported it in logic and mixed it, now, I am going to bounce on 2 tracks, to go to a mastering session.
so what is THE correct work flow, bouncing and sample rate conversion with logic and l3 at the end as last plug in?

Primer needed on bit rate and sample depth

Primer needed on bit depth and sample rate

I understand the basic concepts of these two parameters, but what I cannot understand is how one decides what settings to use in recording. My naive intuition tells me that if a CD is limited to 16/44.1, and if the songs being recorded are going to go to CD, then there is no benefit to recording at any higher rate.

Sample Rate

The rate at which an analog to digital converter measures the instantaneous amplitude of a source signal. Measured in samples per second, the higher the sample rate, the higher the frequency content of the corresponding digital data. The default rate for CD production is 44.1kHz, or put another way, the source material is sampled at 44,100 times a second.

Recording levels and how they vary with bit rate/sample freq

I was wondering what the standard db level to record at was and whether it varies with bit rate and sample frequency? I've always tried to record at the highest level possible with out any distortion (around -6db); but i just read an article stating that at 24/192 it's best to have you recording peak at -12db Any ideas?
