My mix sounds WAY too soft and quiet once burned onto CD
i have a digital recorder/mixer with a CD/R-RW drive built in to burn
CD's directly from the unit.
however, when i mix down, everything sounds fine through the headphones, and the levels are right up near 0 dB.
but the mix is too quiet and soft on CD
actually, the bass and drums sound good, but the guitars and vocals are too quiet.
Limiter, Soft Clipper or Maximizer?
ok, first off, correct me if I'm worng, but any mastered track shouldn't go over 0db in the master bus, to prevent distortion at any volume right?. well anyway,
I want to be able do this without any "muffling" of frequencies,
or anything resulting in loss of quality.

Soft Clipping ?
applying a soft clipping plugin to the master of all tracks sounds
like good idea to me, to prevent any sound from causing distortion.
and when I do apply a soft clipper to the master, it does do this.
but i fear this process is what i would describe as "muffling"
or "dampening" the tracks over-all quality, or frequency range.

Value of Microsoft Updates for XP?
It seems whenever I check for updates in my older version of XP that the majority of fixes hover around security improvements. My DAW sees some web cruising, in a limited way.
Do any of the Microsoft XP updates actually improve audio system performance? Are they worth pursuing?

Linux vs. . Microsoft and Apple LATENCY Test!
Hi guys,
I came across this really awesome study by GRAME http://www.grame.fr/ on Linux/Microsoft/Apple kernel latencies.
Very informative! here's the link:
