Tracktion Software
Hi, has anybody used this software?
I'm saving to buy Sonar 3, but I don't need all that MIDI power (only using some soft synths with simple lines) and looking at the price difference it is tempting to go the Tracktion route.

getting the outboard hardware to work with the software
I have an old SPX900 fx; the thing is 16 bit and mono only. So far I've used it only on gigs, ie. my modest home studio relies only on s/w plugins for reverbs and other effects. So the dumb questions:
- say I record some vocals or a guitar part, I'd rather have it dry, so I can dial in the right kind and amount of reverb etc. How do I get the outboard effects inside the computer?
diagnostic software for memory?
Hi. I am wondering it there is some freeware diagnostic software for PC memory. I think that some of my memory might be bad (here I'm tempted to say "but I can't recall"), but I don't want to replace it unless I'm sure.

Software Based Drum Machine
Forgive my ignorance, but I'm always running a little behind the times. I am currently using purchased midi drum tracks to insert into Adobe Audition and which drive a outboard drum machine(HR-16). I then record each drum sound(snare, hi-hat, etc) on a separate track in AA.

What Recording Software Do You Use and Why Do You Use It
Hi, I'm new here and this is my first post!
I have been using a Roland VS1680 but now I want to buy a delicated Computer for recording and get serious about it.
All the information about Computer recording can be mind blowing and I figure the first step even before I start to put together a computer system is to get a handle on which Software would work for me...
Pro Tools 6 and audible metronome/midi; software integra
I just bought a G4, digi 001 and Pro Tools 6.0 (I'm a neophyte). I can hear analog but I can't hear the metronome or midi--please help. I also would like to know how to integrate Pro Tools with other software (specifically Amplitube and Absynth). Thanks, Tim
Drummer 2 by Cool Shoes Software
Any old timers out there remember this program? It was a DOS based grid type drum programmer.
It was fast and easy to use. I sure would like to know what the guy who programmed it has done since then...

Free Windows XP Recording Software?
A friend of mine would like to transfer his old cassette tapes into his computer. Unfortunately, since I'm a mac user, I'm not too familiar with any PC recording software. Pro Tools Free won't run on Windows XP. Any recommendations? Thanks.
