Ok, I had another thread up here about problems with an Echo Layla. I've tried everything under the sun, and I just can't get it running, so I'm moving on and will be buying another interface soon. In the meantime, I needed to do some quick recording with the built-in soundcard (a SoundMAX Integrated Audio).

I currently own a Xonar Essence STX sound card, which i use in combination with a high-end high-impedance headphone (hd650). Im looking to do some instrumental recording, and I'm thinking of purchasing a AT2020 XLR to connect to this soundcard.

What sound card is considered the "Standard" for studio recordings for PC/Windows 7?
I'm looking for one that has USB capability.

I'm trying to find a soundcard that uses Texas Instruments PCM 4202 A/D converter. Korg makes the MR-1000, 2000 & MR-2 but I'd prefer to find something less costly. Any of you know if this exists?

Hi! So I'll cut right to the chase. I'm not very experienced at all with home recording, but I've been engaging in it lightly for the past 2 years or so and its something thats really fun for me and a stress reliever while I'm at school.

I am new to home recording and run pro tools 9.
With a 2.6 processor 4g of ram. 1T hard drive just fro pro tools.
