Rack Space
An industry standard measurement for equipment that is to be mounted into racks. The width must conform to 19”, while the height is specified as 1 3/4” or whole multiples thereof. For example equipment height is often specified as 3 rack spaces or 3U high. There is no specification for depth.

Recording a band in a tight space: need advice!
Hi all,
I am just starting out recording bands. In a few weeks I have a recording session with an indie-rock band coming up. I will be recording them in a well-equipped, but very small studio. There are no iso booths or chambers to put the guitar and bass amps. This poses a few problems I'd like your advice on.
Rehearsal space
Hi,
Does anyone run a rehearsal space? Is it a good business? I was thinking of starting one. It would be good to network with bands.
What are the problems with it? Make any money?
Thanks.

quick help with "space" in 3 dist guitar mix
Hey all,
Need some advice quick on this project - due in 1 week.
I am mixing a band that does a lot of songs with 3 heavy dist. guitars plus bass. all players like that deep fat sound, lead tends to be fuzzy.

Myspace Mastering
I've notice some bands have different masters just for their myspace profiles. Does anyone have any tips/specific ways to master your tunes for the best possibly playback after myspace compression?

floor monitors for practice space!
Hi, I am considering to get floor monitors for practice space to have a full mix in them (except for drums) How powerful do they need to be?
We have full stacks with VHT tube power amps for guitars and ampeg 810 for bass. We run vocals through Peavey Black widow 15" speakers with 1400w Power amp bridged to mono working at a full power.
You can check out our set up on myspace:

disk space required for 3 minutes of uncompressed WAV files
Storage Space Required - 3658.4 MB (3.57 GB)
This is the approximate amount of disk space 3 minutes of 37 track uncompressed WAV audio requires at 192 k / 24 bits.
Data Rate - 1219.48 MB/minute (20812.46 KB/second)
This is the total data rate of 37 track uncompressed WAV audio at 192 k / 24 bits.
So what equipment do I need for this?
Getting the Most Out of An Amp In A Bad Recording Space
My room is about 11x12 and untreated. I'm looking for rules of thumb or something of the sort. Like amp placement, should it face a corner or wall or something. Should I have the amp shoot into the closet? Right now I have it facing the center of the room and I feel that this is not the way to go about things. My tracks don't sound horrible, but they don't sound how I want them to either.
Uploading to Myspace.
I'll bet this has been covered before but UTFSF helped me find nothing.
When I upload songs to my Myspace something in the conversion, data compression or a codec or something, does weird things to the recordings. But it's not all the time. Anybody know what's up there? Sample rate or bit rates or something I ought to change? Something I ought to convert to before uploading?
