I really need to find a cheap S/PDIF to analog converter. Quality isn't an issue. The cheaper the better.

I'm thinking of making my own little half rack space S/PDIF patchbay. Depending on the state of flux my little studio is in I have had as many as 5 devices with digital IO. Pulling my rack stand out to use the ports is a pain. Fabricating the thing isn't a problem. I am wondering about the propensity of signal degradation with digital transmission.

I have a couple of effects units that I use as external effects in Cubase SX. They work wonderfully well but at the moment I'm using the analog inputs and outputs. Ideally I would like to interface them digitally. I have a MOTU 2408 MkIII with a spare ADAT port, is there a cheap'ish ADAT to 4 SPDIF converter anyone knows of?

Hey I was wondering if it is possible for me to take my Marantz CDR300 Portable Recorder and use two mics on it then plug the out SPDIF jack on the back to the SPDIF in jack on the MBOX then put two more mics directly in the MBOX. Is this possible or can the MBox only record two inputs at a time no matter what?

I'm on a digi002 and I'm looking to upgrade my monitors. I figured there was no point in buying really expensive monitors without getting a better DA converter than hte 002's - then I saw the tannoy precision monitors that you can just hook up right into the SPDIF of the 002.

Is there a way to use an SPDIF or AES stream as a word clock? I've looked all around on the web with no luck, which leads to me think this might be a stupid question. If it is, feel free to throw things. Just aI'm for the body.

What will happen if I use 110ohm cable for SPDIF instead of the normal 75ohm.

I am asking that because I have asked for 75ohm S/PDIF cable and they sent to me 110 ohm.
