Studio Projects C1 / C3

In researching these mics I came across several reviews claiming a marked similarity in tone with the U87. Being the consumate cynic and devil's advocate I put it those of you fortunate enough to have used both. How much truth is in such a claI'm and how much BS. I doubt they are good mics. They get good word of mouth here to be sure. The question is aimed at what to expect if I go this route.

Studio Projects C4 Omni for ambient sound ?

I'm using an Mbox and PowerMac to record ambient sound backgrounds for film. I've been using a pair of Schoeps MK-2 omnis but they are not available for this project.

I'm looking for a cheap alternative. A friend suggested Studio Projects C4s in with omni capsule. The recordings will be done outside (in China and Hawaii) and in large public buildings. This will all be stereo.

Studio Projects C1

Just a quick thanks to all the forum members who pointed me to this mic. Just got one and I love it for vocals. I don't have much experience with mic's, so I can't give any comparisons to the high end mic's. Until now, I have been using an Oktava and some MXL mics for all my vocals. The Oktava was pretty good, and I hated the MXL's. The C1 was exactly what I was looking for. Sounds amazing!

Studio Projects C1 or C3?

I have narrowed my search for a vocal mic down to these 2, but I can't decide which one. I am going to be using it mostly for vocals, maybe a little acoustic guitar, but I am more concerned with the vocals. Give me your opinions. From what I have heard from others, it seems that the C3 is an all around better mic, but the C1 is better for vocals. Thanks for your help on this.

sytek mp4a vs Studio projects sp828?

Anyone feel like comparing the sound of the 2? Just sold my Focusrite Octopre to fund a new RME fireface and Samplitude software. But now I need some pres. I was thinking of grabbing the Sytek 4 channel pre w/ the Burr brown option.

Sytek has 2 flavors of pre, 4 total.

Studio Projects, 8 pre's. All Burr brown.

Apex 435 vs Studio Projects B1

Hey, I'm looking into picking up a condenser mic for recording vocals and acoustic guitar. I'm thinking the cheaper the better, but if there is a big difference between two models for a relatively small difference in price then I'll consider shelling out a bit of extra cash. The two models I have been looking at lately have been the Apex 435 and the Studio Projects B1.
