The advantage of tracking with the 'c' word?
First off, sorry to add yet another compression post. I know it gets old reading “what are the best settings for my compressor” over and over again. But using the search function, I found similar topics, but not the answer to this particular question. Not that I read every topic that came up – so if I missed it, I apologize.
Multitracking with Firewire? Possible?
I've been looking to purchase a Firewire mixer/input device for use with my computer, but it's unclear to me whether or not these devices do true simultaneous multitracking in your DAW.

tracking without cans?-advice
I seem to be having more success lately, while tracking my own vocals, in listening through monitors turned low instead of a set of cans. For some reason I'm able to get more control over the old voice(I don't claI'm to be a pro vocalist). when monitoring, I just use a minimum of instrumentation.

Tracking vocals without compression
I'm a professional musician, not an enginner, so maybe I'm missing something. I've been tracking vocals for a singer through a pretty good signal chain of Mojave Audio Mic/Focusrite ISA220/G5/Digital Performer.

Need help with tracking/compression
Hi there! i'm pretty new to all of this and i must say i invested quite a nice amount of cash in equipment/software and things...
I use my computer to record my girlfriend which is a pretty dynamic singer (Celine dion/Barbra streisand) type of voice...really powerfull when she hits high notes.
