what are some popular effects to get that big vocal sound?
when listening to a lot of songs, the vocals, especially in the chorus, sound natural but at the same time unnatural. they fill a lot of space and sound different enough to keep a lot of interest and focus on them. here are a few examples...
Question on a vocal effect.
I was just wondering if you guys could help me with this. I really like the effect used in the cover song "Metal" by Nine Inch Nails. I'm thinking it's a reverse delay effect on his audible breathing/cymbals, possibly? It starts building at 2:05 and builds to climax at 2:10 right before he sings the next line. It also happens at 2:23-2:30 over his voice. Let me know what you guys think it is.

effect commonly used in hip hop on vocals..?
I'm trying to figure out what it's called, and how it's achieved, but it's hard to describe or give an example as I dont usually listen to this style of music but I may be able to find one if all else fails.
It's usually used in rap and hip hop on vocals and it makes them sound all de-tuned wierd and synthed. Anyone?
What vocal effects does Dan Auerbach from the Black Keys use
Dan Auerbach has an amazing voice.. But i am more interested on how he mixes his vocals. I run a home studio with Logic Studio. What effects, Eq, would you use to get the sound you hear in his voice on Black Keys Records
How'd they do that? Vocal effects.
I was listening to Apocalyptica's new song "I don't care". I am wondering if a pro here could tell me what effects/techniques are used on the vocals during the chorus? To me it kind sounds kinda shattered.
Thanks.

Vocal "crowd yell" effect
Anyone have any tips on recording a large vocal "crowd shout"? For example, the tail of the choruses on Atreyu's "Falling Down" from the album Lead Saild Paper Anchor, or the beginning of "Lay Your Hands On Me" by Bon Jovi? I am trying to make it sound like a very unison, very tight "yell" and would like to avoid recording twenty five tracks of the same line.

Using a Phaser on Vocals ?
I have a Female R&B vocalist in the studio that say's she went to a studio that used an effect on her voice. She said it gave her voice a real dreamy effect. I haven't been able to hear anything she did but, she said she asked the studio what it was and they said they used a phaser.
I've used a Phase shifter but never on vocals.

That old radio/record/tape sounding effect on vocals
I was wondering if anybody knows any shortcuts on how to obtain that old record sounding vocal effect (kind of portishead sounding)? I have an eq setting on my Korg d3200 recording studio(i bought this for portable recordings), but I've already recorded this onto Pro Tools LE before I decided to change the recording. I was wondering if there is any eq tactics i can do post recording.
