Hi guys,
I'm trying to hook up my Tascam 308 mixer to my Tascam 238 syncaset, then run each track back through the mixer for additional EQ, then go direct out of each channel strip (Tascam 308 allows you to do this) into a Focusrite Saffire Pro 40 to bounce in Logic for effects and further editing. This is possible right? When using the direct outs on the mixer into the interface inputs, should I use TS or TRS cables? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

The Tascam 308 has unbalanced direct outs on TS jacks, so you must use TS cables to connect these to the line inputs on the Saffire. Using TRS cables will result in excessive noise due to the -ve inputs remaining floating.

Two additional things to beware of:

(1) the signals at the 308 direct outs are domestic level (-10dBV), so you will need to set about 12dB gain on the Saffire channels.

(2) the 308 direct outputs are post-fader, so if you want any signal at the direct outputs, these channels are also going to get mixed into the main outs unless you set the channel select to OFF.
