Hey Everybody!

I have been considering buying a UAD-1... I have demoed one a little bit, but didnt have a chance to A/B it to the actual hardware it's replicating. Of course I realize it's not the same, but it seems like a lot of processing for $600. LA-2a, 1176, reverb, nigel, channel strip, pultec. How many instances of each plugin can you run simultaneously? Any compatibility issues?

Thanks,

Jon

Well, I have one and have to say it's fantastic! I love the LA2A and the 1176...The Reverb program is very nice as well and can do a lot for you!

As far as compatability goes...not sure what you mean in the long run.

Works fine on a PC and I'm not sure on the Mac...haven't paid attention to that side of things!

Cheers

The compressor algorithms are indeed nice although for Reverb the TC Powercore ClassicVerb is about 2-3 notches above the UAD Realverb. There will, however, be a (hopefully still free) download of the new "DreamVerb" algorithm for UAD later this summer.

It's a nice card but it has only about one fourth of the Powercore's horsepower  . A couple of Nigels (which for my purposes needed a lot of tweaking to produce a useful sound) and a couple of compressors (at 44.1k) and the card ran out of steam. Kinda disappointing.

Nevertheless, at the bottom line still a good deal at the price and a "must have" for DAW's these days, if nothing else for the compressor algorithms.
