Hey guys, I would like to know the name brands of all the Neve
clones. I know there are a few but I need to know them by name

None of these are clones ... the Great River is a derivative, and the Chandler and Vintech sound different.

The Aurora GTQ2 is a derivative. And there are others like Wunder - derivative. Shep - damn nice.

But they all sound different, so "clone" is just wrong.

How about this: A derivation of the original in simlitude or likeness thereof to the 1st conceived design. You know what Im asking!! Maybe clone was a bad choice but all the advertising for these units say " based off of Neve design blah blah blah. I realize they will all sound different. Cant a brother ask a question? :roll:

BTW, you have a SWEET Mastering setup!! Very nice. Do you have a preference as to what style you like to master? Im asking because Im only about 60 miles away from you. It would be nice to hear a before and after selection on the site.

I'm with you shanabit. I wasn't sure why lucey said what he/she said. I just knew that once Kurt got on here and read that. That lucey will be singing a different tune, real soon.

Thanks man, I have heard GREAT things about that piece. Nothing negative at all. BTW, the reason Im asking is I heard an album done at Sound Emporium in Nashville that I liked the sound of and they are using a NEVE 8128 Console. Thats what got me thinking about adding a NEVE sounding unit to my setup. I have an Avalon 737sp right now with a Neumann TLM103. May be adding another mic as well. Not sure if I like the sound of the TLM through the Avalon.

a neve 8128 is n;t a neve it's full of ic chips and as neves go sounds like shit when they're not boroken. the vintedh doesn;t have the full sound of a real neve modules the chandler is way closer and better the great river the one that does the most differnt sounds and the insert point on it is really usefule i put compression in it all the time to make the comrpession sound bigger i sent the vintench back like two days after gteting it because it sounded like mud

Nah, I'm going on vacation this next week, so I was going to wait till I got back to order it. Probably start with one channel of A12, then get another if the first goes well, and later add on some N72's and others one at a time perhaps. 4 channels will still cost quite a bit (bout as much as your ISA i think), so it will be nice to be able to add one at a time without totally destroying the pocketbook in one shot. There is a DIY SSL 2-channel compressor project that I am trying to get all the info for to build too. Should be fun....
