You'll need to get the mic levels up to line level. You'll need a preamp for each of those mics. You can buy them individually like this:

Like he said: you already have 2 mic pre-amps for your first input pair, now you need another 6 for the rest. Your cheapest option may be a used Mackie 1402VLZpro mixer which has 6 respectable pre-amps built in.

You may also find you need to cut a hole in that kick drum head to get the mic inside.. otherwise it will probably sound more trad jazz than death metal!

Here's a cheap trick you can try.

Just purchase the radio shack matching transformer that has a female XLR to 1/4" male plug. These transformers have a winding ratio of 10:1 (or somewhere thereabouts) which means it will give you 10 DB of " free gain" boost into the instrument inputs turning them in to microphone like inputs. That might provide enough gain while recording drums through the 1/4" " instrument inputs". They are generally more sensitive than regular line inputs and the additional 10 DB may just do the trick. But of course for what you will spend on even cheap Radio Shaft matching transformers, you can probably buy a decent used Mackie or equivalent mixer with better microphone inputs?

Ok are you talking Presonus Firepod here? Because the firepod has 8 mic pres. The RME Fireface has 2 pres and additional inputs. With 8 pres on a firepod you wouldn't be having this problem.
