I'm thinking about getting one and I'd love to hear any comments (good or bad) on the quality of the plugs.

If you want good compressors, eq and reverb it is the right choice.

Dreamverb is free until october 23rd if I remember correctly.

The Cambridge eq is not free but i would highly recomend it.

with the cambridge you will have comps and eq's that will beat the hell out of any waves plug-in.

other alternatives: TC-Powercore. the big advantage with them is that they alow 3 partyplug-insand that they have a firewire unit.

The classicverb is really good and easier to get good results with compared to dreamverb.

However it is more expensive and currently they don't have anything that maches the compressors in UAD-1.

My UAD-1 says that a 1176LN requires 14% CPU for a stereo compressor. That's about 7 stereo to tap the card.

The 1176SE requires only 12% CPU, so you could get 8 stereo units.

It appears that mono requires 1% less than stereo for either unit.

The memory required by either unit is negligible, so that's not a limiting factor.
