hey guys,
i was wondering, in Micing groups of singers consisting of say 3 or 4 people, am i insane if i try using beta58s? when Micing choir i usually use a pair of sm81's in X-Y or RTF, but in this case i was wondering if i could get away with 58s and still capture a well rounded sound because i like can get a sweeter sound using 81's as overhead for drums. I have a few EV480s at my dispoal but they sound a bit too ear piercing for my liking.
comments, suggestions?
Hi pluto, my suggestion is for you to go ahead and try it.
Hi pluto,
my suggestion is for you to go ahead and try it. If it sounds good it is good.
What you fail to mention is what kind of music and what kind of situation you are doing this miking in. It might help in trying to help out. Is it miking for PA work at the same time as you are recording, or is it only recording? What are the acoustic surroundings? And what is the purpose, if this is a session to make a record maybe you should go out and rent a few good mics?
