Not sure what is the most standard practice for this, still new to it.

Say I want to send my individual drum tracks to a stereo aux track in PT, and slap a compressor and eq across it all, is it better to use the sends from each track in order to blend both drum combinations or should I set the tracks' outputs to the aux track instead? I'm sure blending is quite common, it just never seems to sound right when I do it that wat, probably some phasing issues (it has a sight 'comb filtering' effect). Using the outputs only would mean I'll only have that submix coming through.

I also read somewhere that when sending drum hit to a submix, it's best to leave the kick alone. As there are no rules and one should simply do what sounds good for the song, just thought I'd ask if there are any pros and cons to both methods?

Thanks!

Sounds like your compressor plug has some unaccounted for processing latency. Does the version of PT you're working with have automatic delay compensation? The blending back in should be sample accurate. If you belnd them at eqwual levels, is the comb filtering very pronounced? What plug is it? Can you look up any associated fixed latency it might have? You should be able to do this trick without comb filtering.
