How does it sound compared to (much, much more expensive) Neve or SSL -desks? What do you think about the eq's in it?

This desk looks like a pro-console at very affordable price... but is it?
Any comments appreciated!

Thanks!

You are comparing very different consoles. Comparing a TLA to a Neve or an SSL is like comparing a herring to an apple!
The VTC was designed primarily to TRACK a session. I have a friend in Washington, DC with one and he loves it. It gives him enough channel strips to track a rhythm session live, or he can dub a horn section or multiple vocalists in real time. Loves the EQ. Looks great, doesn't it? But it isn't a $500,000.00+ SSL. Nor was it designed to be.
For starters, it has limited mixdown facilities. I don't believe that there are any retrofittable automation packages on the market for it. It generates a good deal of heat in the control room ( that might be an advantage in Finland!). And my personal experiences using TLA gear have not been so lucky. Good sound, but technical design flaws that led to problems with reliability. To be fair to Mr. Larking's designs, my friend has NOT had these issues, and there are a lot of TLA fans out there.
I think that if you want a group of nice tube preamps with EQ to track with, it's a great value. But if you are wanting a "full-featured" console at a budget price, look elsewhere (maybe a Ghost? How about a used AMEK?)...

Thanks moonbaby!

Yes, I know it can't be compared directly to ssl or neve, as a console.
I think I meant to compare the sound quality since I have never used TLA stuff.

I've been considering getting "out of the box" for a while, and VTC just seems a console that I could afford in the near future. And, It's mixdown features should be enough for my purposes. (AND, that extra heat really is an advantage here... ;) )

Obviously it would be best if I could find one to test myself, but I don't know if there are VTCs in Finland...

According to their website, the distributor in Finland is " Into Luthman". As far as audio quality is concerned, I think that you will be very happy with the console. Not only does my friend love his, but I remember an article in MIX magazine praising it quite highly. And MIX doesn't "kiss butt" with their reviews; they call it like they see it. Good luck and enjoy!
