Hey everyone,

I'm on a gear building kick right now, and I'm going to be purchasing some components in bulk for a guitar pedal I'm re-designing and selling to some buddies of mine.

So...I thought I'd make something simple, but useful like mic pads or something. All of the pads I've made to date are actually just a cable with the resistors hidden in the XLR plug. I don't want to do that because it is a little bit of a pain in the ass, but instead was going to make like a dual pad with selectable attenuation that accepts both XLR and 1/4inch (attenuate guitar heads to run em direct).

What you guys think? Any ideas on something useful I could build?

I 've posted details of this stuff many times before
and I'm not the only one
you will also find stuff at the LAB

an added feature can be a polarity reverse switch

A simple eddystone box with you choice of connectors and switches
It can always be re-wired as you change you mind or for special circumstances

A larger box will house a transformer and then the options get greater.

look for references to Reamplification (play with the spelling) and you should find some very accurate details including inside pictures

I do I do!!! Build me a studio. It's gotta have two completely different sections one for big projects, big bands, choirs, monster truck rallies, you know..big kinda stuff. The other section should be smaller more like a vocal/midi production studio with just a couple small iso booths.
If it's not too much trouble, could you throw in a full bathroom or two and a game room? Gotta keep the clients happy you know. Then of course I'll need some office space for the secretary and phone.

Seriously, can you actually build something that could attenuate a guitar amp so that you could plug the output of it into a board? I would thing the power coming out of one of those would fry a mixer. I know they have those power soak things that can be used to play at a lesser volume using the same loud output of a head.

when I first saw your "first" title in the Pro audio Forum I was going to bin this topic. Then I thought, it should be moved here but left it. It was later moved by the moderator for obvious reasons.
Your title was really bad, People see a title and then either pass or respond. Try a better title with topics and you will have better and more acurate responses.

Yes that is more than possible to build. There are some DI Boxes out there that will do it.

There is one idea for me....if I get like 10 people who want me to build the same thing for them....that'd be cool.
