Greetings,
I'm thinking of getting an external Firewire drive for my G4/933 PT Mix+ system. Wondering what the best solution is, to assure speed and reliability, maximum track count, etc. I've had some clients come in with these new Lacie drives, that seem really good and solid. I don't know if they have the Oxford 911 chipset. How necessary is that in an audio firewire drive? What does the Oxford chipset get you?

Thanks! - Steve

I have worked on a Mac G4 (don't remember the speed) dual With Pro Tools LE 5.1.1 in a local studio, and I was using a Lacie Firewire 80Gb drive: it worked really good for all of the sessions, altough track count wasn't that high, I mean we were tracking 6 to 10 sources at a time, but it proved to be really reliable and solid; coming from the PC side I work with IDE and SCSI drives, so I don't have that much experience with firewire, anyway that was the impression I had working with it.

Hope this helps
