I want to connect a 528E to a Mackie 1202 vlz pro in order to record my voice. I'm using an Echo Mia sound card. I don't need to use phantom power as my tube mic has a power supply. How is the best way to connect the processor to the mixer?

There are 2 ways, and you will have to try both to see which way works best for you. I have a pair of 528e's and their mic pre's are certainly their "Achilles heel". No clarity, depth, or transparency. Zip. In fact, Audio Upgrades offers a nice package to help that problem. That having been said, the rest of the box is pretty nice to use. You should A/B the following connections:
A) Connect the 528e to a channel insert, using the 528e's Line In and Out jacks. This will mean using the Mackie's mic preamp. Or...
B) Plug the mic right into the 528e's Mic input, then plug the 528's Line out into the Line in on a channel on the Mackie.
See which one is better-suited for you. You may be surprised that the little Mackie's mic pre ain't THAT bad! Then again, maybe the 528e's mic pre HAS been upgraded...ya never know!
I am a big fan of (most of) Symmetrix's stuff over the years...very well built, solid. The 528 and the 528e have been the staple of many a VO booth. Some may take issue with me on the mic pre's (though I doubt it!), but ...It is what it is! Enjoy!
