The 160a sounds closer to the "X" than 160VU. Come to think of it, none of their other compressors sounds like a VU(165,160S or SL). The only thing that sounds like a VU is a VU.

Why is that? Why hasn't anyone else including dbx been able to make a hard knee compressor that sounds like the 160VU? I don't think it would be that hard but what do I know?
