Been hearing many techno/dance songs which have a snare drum pick-up to transition from the intro to the song...apart from increasing in volume (the norm), many also have the EQ on the snare drum going from enhanced lows to enhanced highs (in a very fluid manner)...

just wondering how to go about achieving this?

Ooo... a neat little trick!

Duplicate the snare track and invert polarity on the copy so that they sum to 0 (silence) when played.

Slap an EQ on one, and instead of boosting, CUT a band, then automate the center frequency on that band.

What happens is that since the signals were summed to 0, what's being played now is the DIFFERENCE between the two tracks. I.E, only whatever changes the EQ makes to one of the tracks.

It's a more surgical technique of letting only some frequencies through.
