I am using an ibook G4 and am out of usb ports. Is there some kind of device that anyone knows of that you can plug into one of the ports and it branches it off to two ports?

Easy!

Any Wal Mart will have usb expanders...even a target or k mart as well.

Various kinds out there, usually less than 20 dollars. Best buy, Circuit city..any computer store generally.

Here is the caveat....

Get one that uses the computers power and not outboard power. Outboard power has been known to cause issues with audio captures. hopefully this is no more..but I have seen it happen, resulting in pops and ticks in the audio.

You will want to use a powered usb hub. Especially if you have a power hungry usb accessory attached to it. The power supply is there to power not only the hub but the usb equipment attached to it. Most power supplies are 5 vdc at 1 amp or better.

Never heard of a powered hub affecting audio. We are talking digital signals here and the power supply is only supplying the power to feed the electronics in the hub and for external power to devices that need it. Is this an "urban myth"?

Best hubs, although the are expensive, is the Belkin hubs. We have had a lot of problems with some of the Kmart variety hubs and they would not work all the time or would become flaky over time. Best to stick to name brands.
