Hi! I'm just getting started with recording and I got confused a little bit.
I have:
laptop Toshiba Satellite A500-1C0
midi controller M-Audio Axiom 49
mixer Mackie Profx12
phones Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro
usb interface Line6 UX-1
I use:
Cubase 5
gearbox
Before I used FL Studio and Adobe Audition.
I'm guitarist and everything was quite easy.
Just plugin guitar->line6 ux1->laptop launch gearbox and I could record in AA.
Now I'd like to move forward to Cubase and here starts my problem.
Is it possible to connect mixer via line6 ux1 and make it works
or I need better interface usb?
I can't directly connect mixer to laptop because my sound card doesn't use ASIO.
I successfully set up my midi controller, but I messed up with line6 so I would be glad if someone could describe me how to do it.
What microphone would you recommend for recording guitar?
What about Shure SM47?
What am I missing in my setup?
Do I need preamp if i have phantom power in my mixer?
thx for help!

Sorry, I've been answering too many threads lately and got your computer confused with some other post. Regardless, you still don't need an ASIO driver for your Mackie PFX mixer. It is usb and just plugs right in. You have to select it as the recording device from within Cubase itself. Here is a pdf directly from Mackie that sort of covers the USB recording with this unit.

You still are only going to get two channels mono or one channel stereo. This mixer is only designed for that-L R Main.
