Hey how u doin, I'm new here. I've been playing regurly in a 3 piece with a Yamaha mx something and 2 2x15 500 watt FOH.and using an old jade thing to power my FB's. Recently I went to an auction and scored a phonic helix 18 firewire mixer, 3 power amps aCrown CE-2000, a Quest QA-3000, and a star sa-12. And the speakers I got well I'm not really sure what they are but there's 2 1x15 Basic speakers(not sure how the tweeters go), 2 18"subs which i dont know, and 2 quest subs(I dont know what they r i looked all over the net. they have six holes in the front.) I was just wondering if anyone here could tell me what i need to use this in a live situation. I've used the Crown with the basic speakers from the mains. with the Foldbacks coming from the aux 1, to our old Yamaha emx(I think its called). But I want to know how to hook the subs up.If any one could help me it'd be awesome thanks.
peace out :)

You need to connect the subs to one power amp and the mid/tops to a second stereo power amp, using a crossover unit to split the audio frequencies at the input of the power amps. Often, the subs are driven in mono, in which case, the crossover box sums the sub outputs of the L and R channels. Connect the main L+R outputs of your mixer to the input of the crossover unit.

At the power levels available from those Quests, don't be tempted to use passive crossovers at the output of the power amps - they will explode.

You don't appear to name a crossover unit in the list of gear you are now the proud owner of, so you may have to go to another auction to get one.

I picked up an old C-Audio active crossover for next to nothing (it didn't work originally - needed a new mains transformer), which now works well for me for exactly the function you need, but there are many makes and models to choose from. The other approach is to go for an active PA speaker management unit such as something from the DBX DriveRack range.
