I'm looking for a good sub to use with Yamaha MSP5's. I wan't some really accurate, someone usable for mastering (although my room ain't jet).
I'll have to confess I don't have a clue what to look for in subs... I've only been looking at monitors until now.
I can get a 360W Behringer B2092A for around 200$.. I know the specs are good, but I used to have Behringer Truth 2031A, and didn't like them a bit.
So it's quality over quantinty for me ;)
Now shine your best and find me a good sub! 8)

in fact the 7050 is a fantastic sub, but it is matched for the genelec 8000 series, crossover frequency, spl, etc. (a really outstanding combo anyway, IMHO)
so not so shure myself about matching it to a pair of msp5s, but maybee you can convince a dealer to set up a pair of msp5 with a genelec 7050... (there should be some around who carry both brands!) and listen for yourself!!!, comparing tech specs on paper, to see if they match is not going to get you anywhere!!!!

Sorry folks, much as I like the little Yammie's, there may not be a truly "matched" sub for them. Fortunately, since the MSP5's aren't spectacularly perfect themselves(Gee, Give 'em a break they only cost 500 bucks!), ANY sub that would interface reasonably should do well.
For 5" main speakers, I'd like to look for an 8" 'sub', so as not to make the "change" too drastic, but a 10" will work OK. Again, look at the Yamaha offerings first - why not? Try to "match" the price of the sub with the speakers! Don't go overboard.
Again, the MSP5's are just fine, you could hardly have spent your 500 any better, they are lovely for what they are, but they just plain don't deserve a kilo-buck sub. Get the entire "super speaker" system when you can get it all at once, or at least plan it all at once - AND after your room is ready for it! For now, get a nice little "bottom end" enhancer - check at Best Buy for a 250 bucker(?) - turn it up just so you notice the pleasant addition of a few added bass freq's... and enjoy...
