the best sounding live overheads ive heard was a couple of akg 414s they used those at cochela festivale last year.

Enjoy it! Probably the best concert I was ever at (and I've seen U2 about fifteen times). I'm going to try and attend the Munich gig in August.

The new stadium version of the stage is amazing.

Like the last tour each member has a separate screen, so you get to see loads of mics up close!!!

It looks like they use AT4050s, but it's very difficult to tell, given that they all look the same.

From what I've read in Mix (and I believe ProSound News as well) they're 4050's. I'd love to see the show. My roommate made it, but I had to work. :(

BTW, rumour has it that the stadium show that's going on in Europe at the moment will be touring America next summer.

Wow what a show, I've been waiting 20 years to see them live and it was well worth the wait. They fully deserve their reputation as the best live band in the World by a mile. I couldn't really afford it, but after that I don't care !!. Unfortunately I was under the 2nd tier of the stand and could only see the one screen properly, the one with Bono and Adam Clayton on it !!. So I couldn't tell you what they used only that whatever they were they contributed to an absolutely awesome drum sound.

We're talking about a band who could afford to commission their own mics if they wanted to. That 126,000,000 income from this tour could buy a lot of expensive gear :wink:

I thought the Elevation tour made money, but the Pop tour was a flop. Maybe it varied from country to country, but I think the current tour is making huge profits everywhere.

I think it's sort of ironic that a band that's playing to 80,000 a night at the moment, would have been dropped after their second album in the current industry climate.

I'm off to read the Mix article again.

this is not the climate for "artist" all a major lable is interested in something they can sell NOW. the less artist development the more the profits. just think of the bands that would have been droped, or even bands that where droped and then made it on there own.

Unfortuately I must agree with you about the record companies; and then they wonder why they're losing money. I don't buy that crap (entirely) about the illegal Internet downloads taking their profits. The film companies said the same thing when television came about. They need to change with the times. They need to make the physical product more desirable -packaging makes the perfumery industry incredibly lucrative (the contents of a bottle of Chanel No.5 cost little more than the cardboard box). I suppose visionaries from the next generation will be left with the task of keeping the industry alive.

what i didn't like was seeing u2 has a second guitarist playing behind the amps! pretty bad! what's the problem having him on the stage so people can really see him! everyone knows u2 are those 4!

ive used napster in the past to get out of print records and the like and if i liked the music that was in print i usualy bought it. the same with movies i could the batman for $5 through a friend i know. but i wont. why? because if i wanted to hear people talking and see the backs of heads durring my movie experiance i would watch MST3K. ive found that the people who buy bootleg movies and download music are the people who would never have bought the thing on DVD and CD in the first place.
