Tonight again I got bored of the sucky sound and latency issues when using my computers audio in to demo songs. I've been using PreSonus Firepod firewire audio interface at the rehearsal studio, but can't be bothered to carry it home everytime.

So what I'm looking for is an affordable, high quality USB2.0 / Firewire audio interface to do record (and monitor) without latency and to get the best out of my sound. I will mainly use the interface for playing electric guitar "dry" in and getting the sound out of guitar modelling plugins as well as recording vocals (I have a really good Neumann condenser as a mic).

After a short research I found Apogee Duet, which sounds really lucrative, but as it is pretty expensive (and I'm willing to pay for sound, not that much for design) I was wondering if there's any other "boxes" that would be good for me. Mac/Apple/Logic - friendly, 1-2 channel interfaces that I could also use as external sound cards to boost my iTunes.

Thanks in advance.

Imagynaryday, thanks so much for pointing me to Konnekt way. Konnekt6 seems like a great value for money and I got even interested in Konnekt Live as I realized the unused potential I have in Apple Mainstage.

Droc: I really like firepod and I'm aware of Firebox, but it seems that for home use Apogee Duet would be more to my (wife's) liking. But now when this live issue came us I might look into Firepod again.

This said has anyone used Mainstage live with either Konnekt live, Firebox or Apogee duet? I wonder which one of them hands out the best performance sound and latency wise?
