I am making a isolation box with one speaker in it (12" celestion greenback 8 ohms)...I have a 1/4 on the outsie of the box...Now, I'm unsure on how to hook the wire to the jack...I have 18gauge stranded wire...Can someone draw a diagram or explain how to wire it? Thanks

You should have a standard Switchcraft 11 mono TS jack like this. [I've colorized the parts so you can see which are positive and negative]

You'll notice on a jack like this one tab is more circular at the end - it's the positive. If that's not the case, you'll notice the negative is the one that comes in contact with the sleeve. In any case, you can follow the big tab that comes in contact with the tip to the positive solder tab.

Your greenback should either have a (+) or red dot to indicate the positive.

You'll just solder your 18 gauge (or heavier) wire from the jack (-) to the speaker (-), then the jack (+) to the speaker (+)

Give it a close visual inspection, to make sure you don't have anything shorting between the positive and negative signal paths. If you can solder it neatly without any stray strands of wire and keep the polarity straight you're golden.

Some would prefer crimping a quick disconnect connector on the speaker end of the wire to make it easier to swap speakers later.

Personally I think soldering gives you a better connection. But, do whatever makes you happy.

I hope that helps.

I'm sorry, but I have to intervene here. Sonicfan, you are CONSTANTLY interrupting a thread with your own questions...we call that "highjacking" and that is not only rude, but it is strongly frowned upon. In the past, your questions have been largely ignored. This is the reason. In the future, please post a NEW question under the appropriate subject. If you keep this up, you will be banished forever from this site, forced to live the rest of your days on this earth wondering how to wire your gear :)...Thanks for your participation and your cooperation in this matter.
