Is there a size limit for a drum room?

My studio is located in a large production house. I have one iso room that's fairly small (11' x 11') with an 8' height. I've always recording drums in there with pretty decent results (or at least to my young ears.) right outside my studio is an enormous warehouse. I've always heard that you should always use the highest ceiling possible for recording drums, but is this overkill?

4" or 6" rockwool absorption ?

hi,

I'm making some absorption panels ( 2' x 4' ) for home recording that i can move so not against a wall). I will you them mostly for vocal booth and for general absorption in my 'live room'. I want to use 2" rockwool panels ( good absorption AND cheap !)

absorption coefficient for a 2" rockwool panel are:

125hz 250hz 500hz 1000hz 2000hz 4000hz

Drum recording tips needed for a small tracking booth

Hi,

I'm about to record a drum kit. Since my tracking room is a small one (2.0 m wide 5.0 m long 2.5 m high) there's no other chance than placing the kick drum so close to the wall.

What kind of problems may occur in this situation and what are your recommendations to overcome.

Thanks

Creating a decent basement studio

This evening I had the pleasure of dinner with a good family friend. Andy is a great musician and has been writing and recording his own music for some time. It is a hobby for him, but one he devotes a lot of time and energy to (not to mention the fact that he is an amazing song writer). He's been working on a new CD and I had the pleasure of hearing some of his work.
