Recently we've had lots of topics on choosing mics, and the usual X is good and Y is bad result soon pop up.

Today I needed to record a double bass for a track in the works, but as I had some spare time I thought I'd go through the mic stock and try mics I'd not usually pick, just to see what happened.

I have a Sennheiser transmitter-receiver ew100 G3.

It's going into a Canon XA20 pro camcorder, into the Input on the Handle, which is set to Mic/Manual/flat (center). It's always worked fine for me until lately.

Sorry I've been kinda sparse around here for awhile; my mom was really sick for the few months; she finally passed away on this past Sunday.
Her body was just too tired, she didn't have any fight left in her.

is there anyone who knows how i can remove talking from fiddle tunes. it's already been recorded about 30 years ago, but i recorded it from my stereo which you can record from cassette to Cd. the reason i am trying to remove it, it's my father that is playing the fiddle tunes, but he passed away 29 years ago and i would really like to be able to remove the talking. i hope someone can help me?

As I teach myself to be a better sound engineer on my home setup, I'd like to turn the weedy Roland CR78 samples I've transferred to my Steinberg Groove Agent into something a lot more powerful-sounding. This is a useful exercise in EQ and FX for me. So far, I've done rather poorly - the bass drum in particular just sounds worse.

I'm just getting started in the producing world.

I just produced a new version of the decoder. It can do some amazing things, needed because lots of material (mostly before 1990s) has been distributed with DolbyA encoding still intact. That leaves a harsh, compressed HF, sheen, overly crisp voices -- kind of sound on the recording.

First post for critique. I was told the vocals weren't clear enough, so I'm wondering if I fixed that.
