Hi all.
i am wondering if any one is still using tape, and how you have it intergrated into your set up and what you use it for that makes the effort worth while.
also i am after views from people who were not around when tape was king but has recently come across it, what are your thoughts ?

Supposedly to hear some tell it, there aren't any really good ones. I suspect that is a supposed pile of pretentious poo, but can't say for sure. Anyone used any they would recommend?

I have a line on a MINT SM20 40 in 20 out Mixing console with 2 CPS 800 power supplies for 1000.00 is it worth the trip to get it? What would be the benefits for Live Sound? or should I just keep it for the Studio I am building?

I explain a little about my situation. I am a violinist and I have some experience in recordings (rather being recorded, which has given me some experience especially in editing) but I do not have much experience as far as recording equipment is concerned, now I only have a Zoom H6 and a couple of mics Studio Projects C4 with which I usually record some concerts.

This is probably a really stupid question but I'm just getting started with this and I have a pretty tight budget. I was curious as to weather I could get away with using a cheap lavalier microphone from Amazon to mic a sax, trumpet, or trombone. Could one of these mics handle this or would it overload the mic as it's not exactly made for that?

This past weekend, I started a new project; it's an album being recorded for a charitable cause. Titled The O.A.S.I.S. Project, (Ohio Artists Singing In Support) net proceeds from the sales of this album, which includes a who's who of veteran Cleveland/Akron/Canton songwriters and musicians, will be donated to facilities that specialize in Opiate Addiction Recovery.
