pluses and minuses?

i pretty much get what's good about itb, . but what are the drawbacks of passive summing networks ... ? why is passive summing not a good thing?

I snagged this from the support forum and thought it was worth posting. I'm excited.

Has anybody had any experience with the above DAW Control Surface?
I use Sonar x3 Producer, and at present use my A500 Pro Control Surface function, and to be honest, like the feel of proper faders and knobs for pan etc.
I have tried V-Control pro for iPad, nice idea, but not quite the same as real controls.

There's obviously a lot to talk about I don't have one currently I've used the inward connections and what I found was the same mix had more dimension and what seemed to be fatter tracks

Is it the box itself ?

Is it the fact that there all summed together ?

I want to change my current setup to the one Focusrite Saffire PRO 24 sound card mainly for improvement in recording Vocals and Acoustic Guitar.
The problem is i have no idea that this change does really affect my recording quality.
My current setup:
- Infrasonic Quartet 4x4 Pci interface (I just use Line-in and not Its own preamp)

I have, in the past, transferred both vinyl and cassette tape to digital files and I have a frien who asked if I could have some reel-to-reel tapes put on CDs, they are home recordings of her long deceased father, about a dozen 7 inch reels. Since I don't have and have never used reel-to-reel I sought out a local source to do it for me but they are scarce and they are not repsonsive.

Hi! I have no idea if this is the right place for this, but my friends and I are in a band, and we want to start recording.

Now I have absolutely no idea how to go about doing this, and I would really appreciate if someone could help us out.
We have two guitars, a bass guitar, drums, and two vocals.

Hey everyone, first post, searched the forum for "shed" and didn't find a totally similar situation so I'll post the question here. Sorry if I missed any previous duplicate posts! I'm a "need it right now" kind of person, but I really don't want to screw this up so I'm trying to slow down and do my research, and see if this is a horrible idea, or workable.
