Why even 24 / 96 Digital Sucks!
Check this out. I first heard about this several years ago when I read an article in the now defunct BAM Magazine where Neil Young said almost the same thing.
The following is an excerpt from an article by Rupert Neve, published in the October 2002 issue of Audio Media in AM Forum.

Your Best work with the least amount of equipment?
Let's hear about projects you have done with almost no gear that turned out so good it surprised you. I'm sure there are lots of war stories about this subject. I would also like to hear your opinion as to why you think it turned out so good... Hint; this topic is related to the "What are you recording and why are you recording it?" thread

Speed of Ram buss on Mac's?
I am doing transfer's from IZ Radar drives to Pro Tools. There is a new software called DAMSEL that transfer's the data from Radar drives to other formats i.e. SDII, BCW or AIFF files. In our expermentation to find the fastest transfer time, I have some questions for any Mac users. We tested a Mac G4 powerbook running a 500 Mhz processor on a 100 Mhz bus with 256 ram.

Yamaha DSP Factory & Tascam PCI-822
I have both cards installed under Windows XP in a 1.2Ghz 256MB P3 system. Using Sonar 2.0 I can record 8 simultaneous tracks on the PCI-822. I can also record 4 simultaneous tracks on the DSP Factory. But if I try to enable recording on a single channel from the "other" card the recording fails with dropout errors.

TC Electronic M-One vs. . M2000
Can anyone who has access or experience with these boxes please compare/contrast. I realize these are two completely differents beasts. But, here are the items I am interested in:
M2000 - hi quality but several years old, 20 bit S/PDIF, available second hand for around $600.
M-One - current but midline product (low-end for TC), 24 bit S/PDIF, available new for about $375.
