looking for other options than a DAW's 2-bus
I heard a lot of things about signal degradation when doing internal mixdowns in DAWs. Up until now, it's what I have always done, but I started getting really interested in finding out what other options I have.

What do Australians know about drums?
G'day, y'all,
I've been becoming a bit of a fanatic about free-floating drums, (not like the inaccurately labeled Pearl ones) where the shell is in contact with nothing but the drum heads, no hardware touching the shell. This way the shell sings like a birdy, and the heads are not choked.

NEED ADVICE! What to charge for a remix?
Hi, I just recently got an offer by an independent Latin Music Label to remix a track that is already a hit (what I was told) on the Latin Club scene in L.A. They want us to basically revamp it for mainstream America. Kind of like Shakira, or Gloria Estephan: already making it in the Latin market, now they want to cross-over to mainstream pop.

How can I record tracks on a Roland VS-840EX & bypas
Does anybody here know how I could record guitar tracks on my older VS-840EX workstation and bypass the main inputs [& therefore record un-compressed audio to my recorder]? Is it really possible to record via/through the External IN function of the VS-840EX and use only the Track Cues as the main recording level controls [instead of the main input sensitivity controls]?

Bypassing the Roland VS compressed audio format
I bought a Roland VS-840EX several years ago and was wondering whether I can bypass this machine's RDAC circuitry? I was thinking that if I plugged my mic preamps signal through the 840EX's EXTERNAL INs jacks I would then bypass the machine's main inputs.

24 bit 96khz vs. . 24 bit 48 khz (final round)
I have heard a lot of guys say the music being recorded today punk, rap, pop etc will not take advantage of 96 kHz sample rate.
I tried a few projects at 96k and things sounded better to me
but my machine was overloading.
Makes me want to build a super computer!
What do you guys think, is 96 khz worth it?

is dm 24 all that check this
Tascam dm-24?
The mic preamp problem seems strange?
I have also been informed that it will only do 96k
through Tdif.
I'm thinking a Mackie d8b might be a better choice
Any Dm-24 users in here tracking at 96k through tdif?

RODE mics overload too easily?
I have a RODE NTK and this mic has a tendency to overload far too easily... Even when recording a quiet amp I get cuts in the sound! Does this happen to anyone else? I was under the impression that RODE 's microphones had an amazing SPL tolerance.
Is it a possibility that it's just disagreeing with my preamps?
