dm 24 Mackie or db8 ?

I got a dm 24 only but only tdif will do 24/96
I heard the Mackie d8b will do 24 96 lightpipe

Anyone have 1st hand experience with both of these?

Opus - I am in the midst of gathering all of the pieces needed to duplicate your rig. The Asus P4B266 Mobo is starting to give me a headache. I am finding so many variations of the damn thing. You have said to get the plain jane (no -C version) board. I have now found info that says that there are 2 versions of the chip sets. A 845 and an 845D.

I use D.P. with a G4 and am very happy. I recently was given (dont ask) a 333mhz Gateway laptop. Now, it has always been my dream to run Digital Performer on a Powerbook with an 828 or something to do 2 track location recordings with a small road case.

I got this new MOTU FastLane MIDI interface installed but can't get its input to be recognized in DP. I'm able to send MIDI to my Korg N5 but can't use it to control anything. I set two cables in and out in FreeMIDI.
Any help will be appreciated.

I currently run a modest setup based around some nice outboard pieces and Digital Performer through a 1296 and a 2408 to a G4. This has suited me well, but i've always wnated to also have a TiBook or something to suppliment it so i could do two channel location recording with a laptop and a small road case.

Well, I finally have all of my components. The last thing to get here will be the case, and it is on a UPS truck, on its' way to my house. And so it starts...
Since I'm saving for SS32, which is not host-based, I decided to go with a less expensive but adequate PC. Here's what I have:

Codegen 300xx AMD-approved 350 watt PS

I'm glad I have the hardware version now.

I love my procontrol. I absolutely hate it's analog monitoring section. It's embarrassing.

Do you know of anyone in London who might be able to improve it for me.
