Mastering Explained

Forums

In this video I simulate what a mastering engineer would do to a mix.
Of course, a true ME will use far more advanced tools than Ozone to do so, but I thought it would be nice to discuss what they look for and how a mix can be transformed.

Disclaimer, I'm not a mastering engineer, I don't have the space and tools and I wouldn't pretend being one..

Amp or speaker distortion problems

Hello Everyone,
I'm brand new to the forum so be gentle. I hope I'm in the correct area to asked this question.
I have a powered monitor and it powers up, and sound comes out, but the volume is very low and it is distorted. How can I determine if the problem is the speaker or the amp?
If it's the amp, what would be the most logical problem.

Xeon or i7

Providing that it is apples to apples as in same # of core, CPU speed, which chip would perform better for home recording? No sure but is one better for serial and or parallel processing? I will be using Cake walk, not sure of what amp Sim or other plugins outside of the plugg-ins that come with cakewalk that I will be choosing.

My Nady amp is zapping me.

Well I turned on the ole studio last weekend. I thought a felt a tingle when plugging in a patch cord to my mixer.
At first I thought I imagined it. Then my lips got zapped through the mic. That I didnt imaging.
I also realized that I got a shock when handling the main outs from my mixer to my power amp.
And the chassis of the amp itself was energized.

MORE FROM DROOL"NDOGG RECORDS

I find myself with way too much time on my hands while I'm rebuilding and upgrading. (almost done)

I think there will be a big resurgence in local level recording and performing when things start to open up. All those talents having to woodshed and all those appreciators hungry to hear stuff. Hope I'm right. Papa needs a new motorscooter.
