2 Questions (Panning two guitars, EQing drums bass etc)
I have a couple questions for some gurus out there.
First of all, what is the best way to mix two guitar tracks when they are both playing melodic lines (a la Killswitch Engage, Trivium etc)
Should they be panned to the extreme left and right or maybe halfway, or between half and extreme?
another question about recording drums
the crash cymbals on my current recording ( 80ies thrash metal) just wash, in other words there is very little attack and identifying single hits is very hard on the recording, is there a way to emphasize the hits in the mixing process, or is this a matter of choosing the right cymbals beforehand only...

Kick drum and small diaphram condenser mics?
What are some good low-cost (< $150) kick drum and small diaphram condensers? The small-diaphram would be used for drum overheads and for recording acoustic guitar as a stereo pair.
Need tips for getting a full, "big drums" sound
Hello. I'm new here and this is my first post. I'd like to know how to get the largest, fullest sound I can get out of my drum kit. Right now, my kit's in a finished basement and the ceiling is 6' 8" high and the room is 12' x 16'. My 4-track and my cheap Radio Shack mics make my drums sound like they're made of paper plates, but they're all I have.
The importance of a decent room for drums..
Howdy folks.
In case there are any newbs out there wondering can the room really make a difference 2when recording drums or how much of a difference..well BIG and sometimes in a literal sense.
The kit and proper tuning helps and alose playing to click really tighten things ups.

I am using right now 2 sm57's for the snare (1 on top and for the bottom), and it sound pretty good. But I am thinking to try some other different mic for the bottom snare to have different snare sound option.
Any suggestions? What mic do you use or you like?

Newbie - Recording Acoustic Drums - Kind of Long Post
My partner and I are in the beginning stages of creating a recording studio. While we both have recorded in several professional studios, this is our first attempt at building our own. So far, it has been a good learning experience. By the way, our budget has been somewhat limited (aren't they all)?

Dream Theater's 6:00 drums using Drumkit from Hell Superior
Hello all,
Well this weekend had some time to dedicate to playing around with DKFH and what better song than 6:00 which has some nice drumming, never boring. Used a MIDI file from the DT site and just left th drums. So just made sure I did the gating, leveling, assigning the most appropiate samples, EQ, and some reverb. and still the source is MIDI.
