drums hurt high-end mics?
I've got some U87s and planning to buy a couple of DPA 4006s (with Brent Averill 1272 and soon a two-channel Grace). I want to be able to record solos or duos classical and jazz etc so for that like the warmth and clarity this set-up offers. However, I want to be versatile and for bread and butter need to expand into pop, jingles, whatever comes my way.

Recording Taiko drums..
Anybody have any suggestions on recording Taiko drums?
I have a possible project coming up where I'm going to have Taiko and voice performing. I've done some Taiko recordings before that while they sound decent, they aren't fantastic.

with only 2 good pres. Where to use them on drums?
If I have only 2 channels of good pres (Neve 5012) and a bunch of generic pres (Tascam M-2600 board)...
on a drum recording, which drum mics should I put with the Neve? Room mic? snare? kick? wondering...
Cubase & BFD (Vst Drums Instrumen)

Placement of speakers and drums for best monitoring ?
First of all; I am sorry if this is posted in the wrong sub forum. I couldn't find a better sub forum to post into.
Our rehearsal room is about 20 square meters. We need the best possible monitoring with the equipment we got, as any other rock band. (We don't use headphones or small personal monitor speakers when we practice. )
Kick drum mic
Hi Guys
Recently I recorded drums for a rock band with some rented mics and the results of the kick were shocking.
I used 57's on the snare and toms, Audix overheads and a BETA 52 for the kick drum.

Recording drums with only 4 inputs
Hey guys, wanted to pick your brains and get some opinions on how to handle this situation. I need to record drums this saturday in a medium sized room, the wall are non parallel and are also carpeted (used to be an old recording studio).

Recording drums with 2 mics
I'm starting to record drums with two mics tomorrow (one dynamic above toms and snare and one condensor in front of the kit, I'm cheap like that). I was wondering if anyone has done this before and if anyone has any suggestions about the best way to EQ a single stereo track with all the drums in it. I'm trying to get it to sound fairly decent.

why do these drums sound like crap Part 2
ok update. i lowered the OH's closed to the set, tuned down the kick, put the sm57 under the snare til i get another one to go on top and bottom. .
also, added compression, EQ, some limiting and slight reverb...
tell me what you think..any improvement from the clip from the other day...anything sound really good/bad?
