How do they do it?Screenshot.

Hello to everyone, this is my first post here. :)
I have been reading about mastering lately, bought Bob Katz's Mastering Audio-The art and the science and I really find it exciting!
Now, maybe my question has been asked a thousand times here and maybe you are too tired of hearing it but I couldn't help it, sorry!

Massive Mastering In EQ Magazine
Forums
I don't know if anyone has seen the latest issue of EQ Magazine, but Massive Mastering has the back page, "Room with a VU". I thought it was pretty cool that a guy that gives so much of his time and knowledge to this forum gets some pretty cool press.
Congrats John!

quick Wav question.
Forums
Does a wav file retain the bit rate that it was created from? If I record a track at 24/48 then make a wav file for transfer to my computer, will that file still be 24/48? Problably a pretty basic question, but I was under the impression that wavs. were uncompressed media.
Thanks,
Justin

A question for masterers.
Forums
This is going to sound pretty dumb but I'm an older guy and to me a recording machine is something that has big wheels that go round and round.
Now suppose I want to send four tracks of sound mixed down from those big wheels, to a mastering service to be made into a relatively professional-sounding two-channel commercial recording.

Percieved Volume Consistancy
Forums
Is there a trick for getting all 12 tracks on an album at the same percieved volume?
Tracks I'm currently working with were done over 1 year's time, so the volumes vary quite a bit, even after using my 'evil L2'.

i'm trying to find the right final levels for a alt CD i'm working on. my sound right now is much softer than pro CDs i reference, but all my mixes right now are at their maximum before they start to peak.
