which preamp? which mic?
what's up everybody? i'm new to the forum but been on it for a while. anyway i've been driving myself crazy on looking for a new mic and preamp mainly for vocals. i heard good things about the summit audio 2ba-221 and like the price. i also was looking at the universal audio la-610. which is double the price and a channel strip. which may be important.

The right mics?
Currently I run a Behringer C-4 (which I think is specifically for cymbals), and a Sm57 for recording a guitar cab. I've been noticing that it's not capturing the nuance of the amp. It just seems to be lacking. Generally I just assume what I'm using is wrong. because well... it normally is.
What mics should I be using to record?

the mic for Elvis/Morrison
I think I'm a baritone and I hope the tone is more thick than thin. Ideally it would be as thick as Elvis. But, I want to sound as much like Elvis or Jim Morrison as possible.
what mic would be good?
my condenser sounds way too bright for me on the loud stuff when I have to step back from the mic. I like that thundering boom that Elvis could do.

Amp cabinet mic clamp
Hey anyone using these?
Amplitube Uno
It seems like a good idea especially in live recording, just so many places to put mic stands but I was wondering how well constructed they are and what kind of reach and distance they have. I mean can you get the mic wherever you need?
Or what stands are you using live?

RODE NT4 capsules
I've been reading various posts here that talk about the NT5. Then it's further mentioned that the NT55 is a better choice as it has the same omni capsules as used by the NT5 AND has a nice set of cardioid capsules. I've also read that the NT55 cardioid capsules are the same as on the NT4. Here is the question.

Mini stereo mic adaptor?
I'm trying to figure out how I can plug an electret condenser stereo mic into my external sound-card. The mic has a male mini stereo (1/8") plug, and the sound-card has the following (female) inputs: Mic (XLR)
Guitar (1/4")
S/PDIF (a single RCA in)
Unbalanced line inputs (pair of 1/4" ins)

Ribbon Mics on Cabs - SPLs and proximity.
Hi there
Just took receipt of a stereo pair of FatheadIIs (with Lundhals). Just tested them and they are fantastic.
Just wondering, given that ribbon mics can be damaged by gusts of air etc, how close to a cab can they be placed when recording bass? I know this is a difficult question given that I can't give a specific recording volume.
