hi everyone, first post, joined specifically to ask this question:

My voice is a bit unusual given that it sounds higher pitched than it actually is. Similar to Garnet Roger's range but with higher overtones, a bit 'bellish' at times. I am trying to work my way through the myriad possibilities of mics for my home studio specifically for my vocals. For my acoustic guitar [Early Taylor 510] I use a 'stripped down' AKG 3000 [foam removed].

What do you prefer for MS recording of acoustic guitar:

two LDC - or - LDC with SDC?

... and why?

Hey guys, I'm the the market for a good quality and great sounding vocal mic for recording, that isn't too astounding in price. Looking for any recommendations from you guys while I'm considering a few, thanks!

I'm not certain I'm even asking this correctly, but if/when a mic is used alone, by default, is it in or out of phase? Or is that even a valid question?

So all of my gear, just about all of it anyway, belongs to my guitarist from my old band, my namesake, anyway he bought the Firepod to record the album, and then we used mostof his mic's and stands (i've acquired quite a few more than he brought so i can live without them) we did that and then its stayed at my house ever since.

But can someone give me some simple instructions on what the "Philips Microphone System" consists of. Or even better, a nice picture would be brilliant!

Someone gave me a CD of piano music today (Schumann, made in Japan) recorded with this "System", asking me, how it was done and I was stumped...

I'm sure this has been discussed before... but a search yielded no results! Even googling didn't help me out... so I need some advice:

this is my first topic and would like to know a good mic for the hi-hat. As you have probable heard in today's music, the hi-hat seems to be a little more enphasized in the mix (depending on the genre) and i just want to know of a good mic that will sound good close up and what placement would be good for it?
